The Musical Musical Musical

Daddy and Miss Rose reprised a song at a local high school, from a musical Daddy (and Mamma, for that matter, and Auntie Hannah) were in, wayyyyy back in the 80's. Miss Rose was not a twinkle in Mamma and Daddy's eye back then. Nevertheless, it was perfectly fitting, as it turned out, seeing as how Daddy has many children of his own, now.

Can you guess the musical? How about the song?

Here are some more photos from the night.

April Activities

Miss Rose and Joman have enjoyed learning some new skills this spring. Needle-felting is one of the activities they enjoy the most; and have invested a large proportion of their allowance money to purchase of soft, colorful wool roving, and plenty of needles.

They worked hard to make our felted family, which likes to ride around in the Steak n Shake convertible! Mamma even has wired arms to hold Baby with.

At their farm program, Joman and Miss Rose learned to make tasty, hand stretched mozzarella cheese from fresh, raw milk. One day they came home with a jar of curds, and then next day, they heated the curds, and stretched and molded them. Then we had a delicious tomato and mozzarella salad, with hot, homemade cuban bread.

Pinebox Derby at Awana. Joman and Daddy worked really hard on Joman's car, and it looked extra fine, and super fast. I am sworn to secrecy on how the car performed on the night. ;-)

Daddy was the centurion at the Easter play at church. He sang beautifully, as always.

On Joman's birthday, the children planned a concert for our family and Grandma and Grandpa.

Psalm 103 was very long! I was impressed that they had memorized the whole Psalm, and sang it beautifully without error.

Saturday

Nothing much to tell you really! Got up late this morning, like 10am; did some chores and a bit of general cleaning, went to the library, paid massive fines; went to Buddy Rogers, looked at over-priced violins for Miss Rose; went to Kroger, bought a pork roast to turn into pulled pork for church lunch tomorrow; came home, watched the menfolk launch a rocket; read a book; read another book; ate salad fresh from the garden and homemade toasted bread with lashings of butter, and guzzled homemade iced tea; practiced the banjo -- yes, I said BANJO.

What's it to ya?

Miss Rose Turns Eleven

Let me tell you about this Eleven-Year-Old Miss Rose. She is a lovely girl, growing into a wonderful young lady. We are so very proud of her.

Industrious by name and nature, she is never, never idle. She teaches herself how to do many things -- sewing, crafting, drawing, music, cooking, reading, and so much more.

She is generous with her patience towards her little brothers. Hardly ever does she keep a brother out of her proximity -- she allows help from little hands when she doesn't need it; she helps her little brothers in all manners. She always knows just what to do.

Miss Rose is our organizer. She knows the date, time and place for everything.

She's pretty and sweet and oh-so-very intelligent.

We sure do love her.
Happy Birthday, Miss Rose.
Miss Rose would like to thank Aunt Hannah and Uncle Steve for the lovely gift card, with which she purchased a Native American Beading Kit; and she's already taught herself how to bead. Thank you!
